Wolesi Jirga – The House of Representatives summoned minister of Hajj & religious affairs on Saturday to explain their plans about existence of talisman and superstitionists in the country.

Lawmakers called Farkhunda’s murder by mob a huge disaster which must be prosecuted seriously.

Allah Gul Mujahid a member of the house said,” A number of magicians are misusing the name of Mullah and acting against Islam and Sharia, they have even opened shops in the city, and they must be arrested”.

There are still people in the Shrines and Mosques cheating the people by giving talisman and earning some money, the minister of Hajj and religious affairs must ban these superstitions,” another MP Nazifa Zakee said.

Now MPs are looking for those to be trailed which have beaten, burned and killed Farkhunda.

Sayed Ali Kazemi a member of the House stated,” Farkhunda’s death is a very important matter and according to the Islam we want justice for Farkhunda, we want the killers to be punished and this issue must be followed earnestly”.

Legislators believe the main reason behind Farkhunda’s death is the existence of talisman.

Zahir Qadir the First Deputy Speaker highlighted,” Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs must collect all phylactery writers and shall not let them to deceive the people”.

Faiz Muhammad Osmani minister of Hajj and Religious Affairs also called Farkhunda’s murder a catastrophe emphasizing his commitment to collect the phylactery writers in the city.

Phylactery was a concerning matter even before mobs kill Farkhunda and we have assigned a delegation to collect all phylactery writers in Kabul, we have arrested a number of these people as well to rescue misusing people and all credit goes to Farkhunda,” Osmani said.

MPs emphasize that ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs must take plans to avoid people being misused by superstitionists for their own advantage and there must be a distinction between religious scholars and those who misuse the religion.
