Next Moscow Format meeting on Afghanistan to be held in fall: Kabulov
Zamir Kabulov, Russia’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, has announced that the next round of the “Moscow Format” talks on Afghanistan is expected to take place between September and October 2025.
According to TASS news agency, Kabulov made the remarks after UN-led working group meetings on Afghanistan held in Doha. He stated that the exact date of the upcoming meeting has not yet been finalized.
“We, together with our regional allies and the ambassador [of Russia to Afghanistan, Dmitry Zhirnov], have already discussed here the possible content [of the consultations] and further coordination of joint actions,” Kabulov added, responding that “Afghanistan will participate in this meeting as a full member.”
He emphasized that Afghanistan will participate in the talks as a full-fledged member.
The sixth round of the Moscow Format consultations on Afghanistan was held on October 4, 2024, in Moscow. The event was attended by special representatives and senior officials from Russia, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Pakistan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Amir Khan Muttaqi, the Acting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, also participated as the main guest.
