Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday called on the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) to take effective action to neutralize terrorist groups.

Speaking at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Sharif claimed that Daesh-Khorasan, Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Eastern Turkistan Islamic Movement (ETIM), Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan and Ansarullah have a presence in Afghanistan.

He also said that Pakistan seeks the earliest possible normalization of the situation in Afghanistan.

Sharif called on the Islamic Emirate to respect human rights, including the rights of women and girls, and promote political inclusion.

The Islamic Emirate has previously denied the presence of terrorist groups in Afghanistan and has always emphasized that it does not allow Afghanistan’s soil to be used against other countries.

The Islamic Emirate has also said that the rights of women and girls are ensured according to Sharia and the government is inclusive.
