A source in Presidential Palace on condition of anonymity has said that Shukria Barikzai is still the head of Electoral Reforms Commission (ERC).

Previously, the executive office in an exclusive interview with Ariananews said that the executive office does not accept Shukria Brikzai not only as the head of the commission but also as a member.

27 days passed since signing of president’s decree on formation of the electoral reforms commission; a commission that creates a lot of controversies in the government.

In the meantime, some of the appointed members of electoral reforms commission said that they still do not know who the head of the commission is.

“We had no meetings and we have no plans so far,” Aziz Rafie, member of ERC said.

At the other side, these inconsistencies have raised the concerns of the electoral supervisory bodies.

Jan Dad Spin Ghar, head of Afghanistan election watch said, “The current controversies will put irreversible effects on elections, unfortunately these inconsistencies are shocking.”

The CEO of Free and Fair Election Foundation of Afghanistan (FIFA), Yousuf Rashid said, “The faith of this commission should be specified as soon as it’s possible, a short time left to the end of parliament season and parliamentary election.”

However, President’s spokesman, Ajmal Obaid Abedi always stressed that the government will never retreat and reforming the electoral system is essential.

Earlier, the executive office has said that there are many differences in the national unity government, even the authorities of the executive office are still unclear and the government has failed in the last seven months.
