US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has been urged by Senator Mike Braun to suspend American aid to Afghanistan.

According to a Fox News report, this request followed revelations that nearly $300 million in US aid may have ended up in the hands of the Islamic Emirate.

However, Deputy Minister of Economy Abdul Latif Nazari said that humanitarian aid is distributed transparently and the IEA has no control over it.

“During the last three years, the aid of the international community has been used with supervision and transparency, and it has been used to improve the living conditions of the people of Afghanistan and strengthen the country’s economic infrastructure,” said Nazari.

“Any kind of report that contradicts these goals is not acceptable in our opinion and we reject it,” he added.

Currently, due to the humanitarian crisis, Afghanistan needs assistance from the international community in various sectors, and if aid is stopped, the humanitarian crisis in the country will intensify.

According to the latest SIGAR report, the US has spent $21 billion for humanitarian aid and helping Afghan refugees over the past three years.
