Mohibullah Mohib, a spokesman for Farah police told Ariana News that the Taliban fighters attacked security checkpoints in the provincial capital Farah city on Sunday night but faced tough “resistance” by the Afghan forces.
According to Mohib, at least six Taliban insurgents have been killed and nine others injured as the Afghan soldiers have pushed back the attack.
At least three Afghan soldiers were also wounded in the incident, Mohib added.
The Taliban militants group has not made a comment about the incident yet.
Farah is among the insecure provinces in western Afghanistan where the Taliban insurgents operate in a number of its districts.
