Lawmakers Hope BSA To Stop Pakistan’s Interference
A number of Wolesi Jirga (Lower House of the Parliament) members have welcomed the bilateral security agreement (BSA) signed between Kabul and Washington, and hoped the treaty would help stop foreign countries, especially Pakistan from interfering into Afghanistan.
A day after the security agreement was signed between US Ambassador in Kabul, James Cunningham and Afghan national security adviser, Muhammad Hanif Atmar, the lawmakers urged the accord must ensure Afghanistan’s security and stability.
The MPs praised the continued support of Afghanistan by the United States, and demanded permanent end of war in the country.
“We want permanent peace and stability as it is linked to this agreement,” female lawmaker Shekeba Hashemi said.
However, some other lawmakers opposed the agreement, saying Afghanistan’s law didn’t award impunity to foreign soldiers involved in killing civilians.
