The chief of executive officer, Abdullah Abdullah on Monday said that President Ashraf Ghani has taken decision to introduce two new ministers so far but his decision on introducing other characters yet is not clear.
Abdullah noted that they had promised to announce the cabinet within two to four weeks. The four weeks have already passed and the announcement delayed due to the continuation of consultations.
He also expressed concern over the situation of government institutions that are leading by deputy ministers.
Earlier last week, Wolesi Jirga strongly denounced the delay in announcing the new cabinet and asked the two leaders to finalize it without further delay.
Now once again Wolesi Jirga expressed concern over delay in announcement of the new cabinet and urged the government of national unity to to introduce the new cabinet picks for vote of confidence.
The speaker of Wolesi Jirga—the Lower House of Parliament, Abdul Rauf Ibrahimi said, “According to the constitution, an acting minister cannot continue to work for more than two months. The delay has created challenges for public.”
“On behalf of the lawmakers I want to ask the two leaders [Ashraf Ghani and Abdullah Abdullah] that why the cabinet has not been formed so far. The reasons should be told to the public. Delay in formation of the cabinet is itself a type of corruption and betrayal of public trust.” Ibrahimi added.
