ACCI Praises Azure Route Construction
Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) on Tuesday praised the government’s plan on construction of Azure route in the country.
According to officials in Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Afghanistan will be connected to countries such as; Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Europe through land and railway road.
ACCI emphasized that the Azure route should be constructed up to the next two years.
Head of chamber of commerce and industry, Atiqullah Nasrat said, “Asian Development Bank pledges $ 130 million to this sector”.
Railways were planned in Afghanistan since the 19th century but never completed. At least one rail track was built in the capital of Kabul during the 1920s but was dismantled as Afghan leaders resisted the railway age. Various rail projects have been proposed in recent years, to support mining projects which would drive economic growth.
