Outgoing president Hamid Karzai on Thursday said that United States demanded Afghanistan to hand over its foreign policy to Pakistan.

Karzai claimed that because of U.S demand to hand over the foreign policy of Afghanistan to Pakistan he refused to sign the bilateral Security Agreement between Kabul-Washington.

His farewell speech came weeks ahead of the swearing in of the new president, Ashraf Ghani, after months of turmoil over a disputed election that ended in a power-sharing deal, yet to be tested, with rival Abdullah Abdullah who fill the role of chief executive.

“U.S failed to achieve the objectives that had specified to fight against terrorism in Afghanistan” Karzai said.

He added that America under pretext of fighting terrorism imposed itself on Afghan people and aims of war were not achieved.

Former Afghanistan president emphasized that he does not consider the existence of opposition a need in Afghanistan and he always will be a supporter of Afghanistan government.

Earlier, Karzai accused both the United States and neighboring country Pakistan for the continuing war with the Taliban-led insurgency and warned the new government to be “extra cautious in relations with the U.S. and the West”.
