Upcoming budget presented to Senate

The draft budget for the upcoming Afghan calendar year was presented to Senate House on Tuesday.

The national budget for the upcoming fiscal year is considered to be 458.8 billion Afghani that 275 billion Afghani would go to the general budget and 183 billion Afs to the development spending, said the acting finance minister.

The acting finance minister, Omar Zakhail Wal said, “Despite the shortcomings of the draft budget much of the general budget would be spent on security, social, economic and education sectors.”

According to officials in ministry of finance, strengthening and equipping the Afghan security forces and the distribution of electronic ID cards are the priority of national unity government that enough budgets are intended for them.

In the meantime, the acting finance minister faced the criticism of a number of senators.

The senators claimed that ministries are not doing their duties well and most of the projects remain uncompleted.

Officials in finance ministry added that it is scheduled that the budgets plan to be reviewed at the middle of the year.
