Reconstruction of about 1,000 kms of roads contracted in past year: officials
The Ministry of Public Works announced Monday that the reconstruction of about 1,000 kilometers of roads across the country was contracted last year.
According to the ministry’s officials, the reconstruction work of 80 km of the Salang highway, 108 km of the Kandahar-Urzugan highway, 50 km of the Trinkot-Dehrawood road, and 80 km of the Maruf-Arghistan road is currently underway.
The completion of the remaining sections of the ring road, the second lane of the Kabul – Nangarhar highway, the second Kabul-Ghazni road and the Herat-Ghor road are among the key projects that are scheduled to be implemented this year.
Over the past year, the Ministry of Public Works has directly provided jobs for more than 15,000 people by implementing construction and infrastructure projects and completed the design of about 1,000 kilometers of roads.
Roadside barrier blocks for 279 kilometers of roads, renovation of 160 meters of bridges and launching the design work of 244 kilometers of roads are other achievements of the ministry.
