MoI claims 7 wounded in Kabul car bomb on NDS forces

The Ministry of Interior on Wednesday confirmed at least seven people were wounded in an explosion that rocked Kabul late Tuesday night.

The explosion happened at around 21:50 in PD15 in Charahi Shahid on the Airport Road.

Sources said a car bomb was used in the attack that targeted a convoy of National Directorate of Security (NDS) vehicles that were returning to a compound to refuel.

However, some sources in the area told Ariana News that five people, including two civilians, were killed and others wounded.

The explosion, which was felt across the city, also caused substantial damage to nearby houses and businesses. Vehicles in the area were also damaged in the blast.

Eyewitnesses said many street vendors were also wounded in the explosion.

So far no group has claimed responsibility for the explosion.

Afghanistan’s Embassy in Tokyo to suspend operations

The Embassy of Afghanistan in Japan, currently run by diplomats of the previous government, has announced that it will suspend its operations in Tokyo after the end of January 2026.

In a statement issued on Friday, the embassy said the decision was made after consultations with Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in close coordination with Japanese authorities, and in accordance with the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

The embassy added that after January 31, all of its political, economic, cultural, and consular activities will be halted until further notice.

Currently, Shaida Abdali is serving as Afghanistan’s ambassador to Japan.
