A new study findings reveals extremist views with the students of unregistered religious schools in Afghanistan.

Afghan Institute for Strategic Studies (AISS) in a new research which is conducted in 50 unregistered religious schools in ten provinces of Afghanistan has found extremist view with the students of these schools.

The researchers have conducted interviews with 305 students in which 78 percent of the students were against the suicide attacks, but the other 17 percent of the students were admiring suicide attacks especially over foreigners in Afghanistan.

80 percent of the students were against suicide attacks over the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF).

In addition, 60 percent of the students were calling Taliban slaves and only three percent were supporting the Taliban insurgent group.

The report says that 70 percent of the students have warned to stand against the government of Afghanistan if the government continues to neglect religious scholars.

Mohammad Mohaqeq an AISS researcher said,” If the government fails to pay attention to these schools; it will be dangerous for the country”.

In another part of the report it reveals that unregistered religious schools are more affected by the foreign countries.

According to the report 85 percent of the students and their teachers have supported the idea of working women outside the country while the poll shows that 33 percent of them are against the women political participation in the society and 50 percent are against democracy calling it a foreign phenomenon.

Abdul Ahad Mohammadi, another researcher who was involved in this research said,” Our main concern is those students who travels abroad the country for religious studies and returns back to Afghanistan as teachers”.

About 13,000 religious schools recorded in Afghanistan, most of them are either unregistered or the government does not have any control over the educational and financial system of these schools.

Reportedly a number of these schools are terrorist hubs where they learn terrorist activities and the government must eliminate these terrorist schools before they treat the people and the system.

China says Afghanistan–Pakistan peace talks show progress

China has positioned itself as a facilitator, aiming to create conditions for dialogue and provide a platform for negotiations.

Negotiations between Afghanistan and Pakistan are making steady progress, China said on Friday, as efforts continue to ease tensions in their most serious conflict since the return of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in 2021.

Speaking at a regular press briefing, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said both sides had welcomed Beijing’s mediation and were willing to resume dialogue. “This is a positive development,” she said, noting that China remains in close communication with both governments.

Beijing— which shares a border with both countries—has stepped up diplomatic engagement in recent months, including calls with foreign ministers and a visit by a special envoy in March. Previous rounds of talks have reportedly taken place in Urumqi, though officials did not confirm the latest venue.

China has positioned itself as a facilitator, aiming to create conditions for dialogue and provide a platform for negotiations. Mao said further details would be released jointly by the three countries “in due course.”

Clashes between Afghan and Pakistani forces since October have killed dozens on both sides, with Afghan civilians bearing the brunt of the violence. Islamabad has accused Kabul of harboring militants responsible for cross-border attacks—an allegation Afghan authorities deny, calling militancy a domestic issue for Pakistan.

The renewed diplomatic push signals cautious optimism that tensions between the neighbors could ease through sustained dialogue under Chinese mediation.
