Over 200 Afghan Air Force officers graduate from advanced training course

The Afghan Ministry of Defense said on Wednesday that 229 Afghan Air Force (AAF) officers from the 777 Mission Wing graduated from an advanced military training course on Wednesday. 

 
In a series of tweets, the MoD stated General Yasin Zia, General Chief of Staff and acting Minister of Defense and several other senior officers attended the ceremony to honor the graduates.
 
According to MoD the AAF officers were trained by Afghan instructors. 
 
“The AAF has developed a lot in terms of combat and technical capabilities,” tweeted the MoD.
 
The ministry said the newly graduated officers “independently plan and execute all matters related to Air Force operations, to include combat operations, resupply operations and casualty evacuation.”

Afghanistan’s Embassy in Tokyo to suspend operations

The Embassy of Afghanistan in Japan, currently run by diplomats of the previous government, has announced that it will suspend its operations in Tokyo after the end of January 2026.

In a statement issued on Friday, the embassy said the decision was made after consultations with Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in close coordination with Japanese authorities, and in accordance with the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

The embassy added that after January 31, all of its political, economic, cultural, and consular activities will be halted until further notice.

Currently, Shaida Abdali is serving as Afghanistan’s ambassador to Japan.
