‘Shocking’ Rise in Traffic Fatalities: MoPH

68cf9c00-bb42-4e2b-bfc8-62fe1dc67d1d_mw1024_mh1024_sAfghanistan Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) says the number of traffic fatalities is more than the civilian causalities in terrorist attacks.

Minster of Public Health calls the number of traffic fatalities shocking; citing its statistics is on rise.

“The figure of traffic fatalities is alarming, most of the traffic accidents were in Kabul-Kandahar and Kabul-Mazar highways,” said Firozuddin Firoz, minister of public health.

After insecurity and natural disasters, traffic accidents were the third deadliest incidents in recent few years that have raised the mortality rate in the country.

Minister of public health has also warned the Polio disease should be eradicated in Pakistan; otherwise Afghanistan won’t be able to eradicated.

In the meantime, minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development said the ministry has spend 88 percent of its development budget in the past year and has provided the fields of more than two million jobs for Afghan people by implementing thousands of projects.

“We have completed 11382 projects in the year 1395 that nearly 4 million people benefited in 4 provinces of the country,” said Naser Ahmad Durani, minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development.

The lack of spending development budget by the ministries have caused Afghan residence to face great challenges.

IEA seeks broad-based engagement with world: deputy PM

Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, the political deputy prime minister, said on Saturday that the visit of high-ranking officials of the Islamic Emirate to countries shows that the Islamic Emirate wants to engage with the world, including neighboring and regional countries, based on political, economic and cultural relations.

He made the remarks in a meeting with Acting Minister of Industry and Commerce Nooruddin Azizi, who recently traveled to Russia’s Tatarstan to participate in an international economic meeting.

Azizi said his trip to Russia was full of achievements in the areas of exports and trade, adding that Russian companies and institutions expressed interest in investing in Afghanistan.

He added that he represented the Islamic Emirate well during the visit and assured the participants of the “Russia-Islamic World: KazanForum 2024” that there is a good opportunity for investment in Afghanistan.

The 15th edition of Kazan Forum was held in Tatarstan with the participation of representatives of 80 nations to discuss economic and social relations.

Bus crash kills two, injures 37 on Kabul-Kandahar highway

Two people, including a woman, were killed and 37 others were injured when a bus rolled over on Kabul-Kandahar highway in Zabul province on Saturday night, officials said.

Mirwais Afghan, director of public health in Zabul, said that the incident happened in Karizgi area in Shahf-e-Safa district.

The injured include 26 men and 11 women who were taken to the hospital in the district for treatment.

Iranian official: Will fight illegal immigrants like in war

Mehdi Bab Al-Hawaeji, the deputy governor of Tehran, has warned that they will fight illegal immigrants like in war.

Addressing the officials of Ray city of Tehran, Bab al-Hawaeji said: “Today, confronting illegal immigrants in Ray city is like fighting in a war. It’s like when our children took up arms, came out and were martyred.”

He continued: “There are landmines around our families – moral, social, and economic landmines.”

Bab al-Hawaeji said that there are also legal refugees who break laws and their presence is a threat.

He stated that fining is not enough and officials should use their other powers.

The official warned real estate consultants and property dealers that they will be prosecuted if they provide houses to illegal immigrants.

This comes as the Iranian government repatriates hundreds of undocumented Afghans to their country every day.
