Yaqub Mujahid meets with Qatari defense minister

Mohammad Yaqub Mujahid, Acting Minister of National Defense and Fasihuddin Fitrat, Chief of Staff of the country, have met with Dr Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah, Minister of Defense of Qatar, in Doha on Monday.

A number of high-ranking officials from both countries attended the meeting which aims to strengthen bilateral relations.

During his trip to Qatar, Mujahid met with Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al-Thani, Deputy Emir of Qatar, and a number of officials of the Ministry of Defense.

A number of defense ministers from other countries were also present in this meeting.

Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Islamic Emirate, says that the Acting Minister of National Defense and the Chief of Staff of the country’s also attended a defense equipment expo (DIMDEX) during their trip to Qatar.

The expo was showcasing equipment and vehicles from various international companies.

Afghanistan’s Embassy in Tokyo to suspend operations

The Embassy of Afghanistan in Japan, currently run by diplomats of the previous government, has announced that it will suspend its operations in Tokyo after the end of January 2026.

In a statement issued on Friday, the embassy said the decision was made after consultations with Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in close coordination with Japanese authorities, and in accordance with the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

The embassy added that after January 31, all of its political, economic, cultural, and consular activities will be halted until further notice.

Currently, Shaida Abdali is serving as Afghanistan’s ambassador to Japan.
