Acting Minister of Education Habibullah Agha on Sunday said that Afghanistan needs both modern and religious sciences, adding that the Islamic Emirate is not against modern sciences, but is working for it.

Speaking at a ceremony to appreciate the top-scorers of this year’s nation-wide university entrance exam, Kankor, Agha emphasized that without learning modern sciences, it is not possible to protect the system and the country.

“Modern sciences are the necessity of society. Just like the human body needs food and water, our Afghan and Islamic society needs modern sciences,” he said.

Noor ul-Haq Anwar, the General Director of Administrative Affairs of the IEA, called on youths to study hard for a bright future.

“The time has come to strengthen this system. Let’s try to strengthen the freedom and independence we have gained. Let’s cover the distance we are behind in a short period of time. Therefore, we need talents,” Anwar said.

Top-scorers in Kankor meanwhile emphasized the need to solve problems in the area of education by the Islamic Emirate.

They want the Islamic Emirate to open schools for girls above the sixth grade so that they can also continue their education.
