Afghan ambassador in China, CAPEIC head talk oil extraction project
Wen Bin Li highlighted the significance of the project’s implementation and assured that further efforts would be made to expedite the process.
The Ambassador of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan in China, Bilal Karimi, met with the Director General of the Central Asia Petroleum and Gas (CAPEIC) Chinese company, Wen Bin Li.
The meeting focused on the ongoing oil extraction operations in Afghanistan and the comprehensive implementation of all contractual terms.
Wen Bin Li highlighted the significance of the project’s implementation and assured that further efforts would be made to expedite the process.
He also announced that approximately $100 million worth of advanced machinery and equipment would be delivered in the near future to further enhance and accelerate the project.
Additionally, Wen Bin Li outlined plans to conduct phased training programs in China to upgrade the skills of Afghan engineers, with the ultimate goal of providing them opportunities for advanced studies at relevant Chinese universities.

Afghanistan’s Embassy in Tokyo to suspend operations
The Embassy of Afghanistan in Japan, currently run by diplomats of the previous government, has announced that it will suspend its operations in Tokyo after the end of January 2026.
In a statement issued on Friday, the embassy said the decision was made after consultations with Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in close coordination with Japanese authorities, and in accordance with the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
The embassy added that after January 31, all of its political, economic, cultural, and consular activities will be halted until further notice.
Currently, Shaida Abdali is serving as Afghanistan’s ambassador to Japan.
