Ex-president Karzai stresses importance of girls’ education with UN’s deputy envoy
Former president Hamid Karzai met Thursday with Markus Potzel, the UN’s deputy special representative for Afghanistan where he stressed the need for the reopening of schools and universities for girls in the country.
Karzai wrote on X that Potzel and he discussed various issues including Feridun Hadi Sinirlioğlu, the UN’s special coordinator for Afghanistan’s report, and the Security Council resolution 2721 (2023).
In the meeting, Karzai said understanding and national discourse are necessary to strengthen peace and stability in the country.
