Mina Khairi’s sister dies of injuries sustained in Kabul blast

Ariana News anchor Mina Khairi’s sister, Hussnia, died on Sunday in a Kabul hospital from injuries sustained in Thursday’s explosion that killed Mina and their mother.

Hussnia was in the car with her mother and sister when the IED exploded.

According to doctors Hussnia had sustained severe burns in the blast.

The funeral for Mina and her mother was held in Kabul on Saturday.

Mina Khairi started working as a presenter and announcer of radio and television programs in May 2017 with Ariana News and Ariana.

The blast took place in the Pul-e-Sokhta area in PD6 in the west of Kabul city on Thursday evening.

Afghanistan’s Embassy in Tokyo to suspend operations

The Embassy of Afghanistan in Japan, currently run by diplomats of the previous government, has announced that it will suspend its operations in Tokyo after the end of January 2026.

In a statement issued on Friday, the embassy said the decision was made after consultations with Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in close coordination with Japanese authorities, and in accordance with the 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

The embassy added that after January 31, all of its political, economic, cultural, and consular activities will be halted until further notice.

Currently, Shaida Abdali is serving as Afghanistan’s ambassador to Japan.
