Sharafat Zaman, spokesperson for the Ministry of Public Health, said at least 534 people have been injured and more than 20 others killed.
The earthquake’s epicenter was reported in Khulm district of Samangan province, where local officials say over 70 houses have been destroyed.
"The number of casualties and injuries is high, but since the area is difficult to access, our teams are still on site," health ministry spokesperson.
