Senators call for better security of highways as Taliban intensifies civilian abductions
As Taliban have recently intensified activities on the highways , a number of Afghan senators asked the government to take serious measures about the issue of kidnapping civilians in highways.
Chairman of the Senate House has declared that Taliban’s attacks on civilians once again showed that this group is not committed to the Islamic principles and are thirsty of people blood.
“The armed oppositions have once again showed that they would never watered from the blood of civilians and will always target the Afghan innocent people,” said Fazlulhadi Muslimyar, chairman of Senate.
Muslimyar stresses that the National Unity Government (NUG) must vigorously fight against this group to ensure the security of Afghan citizens.
In the meantime, a number of senators emphasized that Afghan troops should launch effective operations against the terror groups to end the current ongoing clashes in the provinces and seriously eyeing the security of highways.
“Widespread operations should be launched against terrorist groups and the security forces should change their defensive position to offensive position,” said senator Muhammad Hashem Alkozay.
Senator Bahadur Asefi has also said, “The abductions of civilians are still continuing in most highways of the country and this issue has changed to a long-term problem. I wonder why the authorities neglect about this issue?.”
The Afghan senators have stressed that Pakistan’s direct interventions is the main reason for the increase of insecurity in the country; claiming everyone knows this issue.
At the other side, senators stated that those who were involved in the transfer of Taliban intelligence chief in Baghlan must be harshly punished.
Afghan security forces have arrested the Taliban intelligence chief while he was on his way to Maidan Wardak province in an Afghan police vehicle.
Police investigated that the bodyguard of Wardak police commander and a police were in the police ranger and tried to carry Taliban intelligence chief to Kabul then to Peshawar for treatment.

Meanwhile, in Oslo, members of the Afghan community gathered outside the Norwegian Parliament to voice similar concerns. Organizers said a formal resolution was submitted to national authorities, as well as to the United Nations and the International Criminal Court, urging immediate steps to halt the violence and ensure civilian protection.
