Muttaqi says world realizes it needs to interact with the IEA government
According to him, tens of thousands of travelers returned to the country for Eid, which shows they trust the system.
Afghanistan’s acting minister of foreign affairs told ministerial staff on Monday, after the Eid al-Adha holidays, that the IEA’s invitation to the upcoming UN-led Doha meeting was testimony to the world realizing it needs to interact with the Islamic Emirate government.
Muttaqi also said that Afghanistan security agencies reported that there had been no security incidents over Eid.
According to him, tens of thousands of travelers returned to the country for Eid, which shows they trust the system.
Muttaqi said Kabul has hosted numerous delegations from a number of countries and organizations over the past few months and had made good progress in interacting with the world.
He said hopes among the regime’s enemies “has been reduced to dust and the world community has come to believe that there is no other way but to interact with the Islamic Emirate”.
According to Muttaqi, just as the Islamic Emirate has diplomatic, political and commercial relations with neighboring countries and the region, it wants to have such relations with European and Western countries.
Muttaqi also stated that during this solar year, work will commence on numerous developmental projects.

Khalilzad says U.S. ‘significantly satisfied’ with IEA’s fight against terrorism
Former U.S. special envoy for Afghanistan, Zalmay Khalilzad, says Washington is largely satisfied with the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan’s (IEA) efforts against terrorism, though progress in broader relations remains hindered by the issue of prisoners.
In an interview with NDTV, Khalilzad said the United States views the detention of at least two American citizens in Afghanistan as the primary obstacle to improving ties.
Khalilzad highlighted what he described as a “significant degree of satisfaction” in the U.S. assessment of the IEA’s counterterrorism commitments under the Doha Agreement. He said the IEA continue to fight Daesh, a group they have long considered an enemy. Many Daesh militants, he added, have been pushed out of Afghanistan and are now in Pakistan.
At the same time, Khalilzad said concerns remain regarding human rights and the political role of non-IEA Afghans.
