UN urges both contenders to accept the final result

United Nations called on the 2 Afghan presidential contenders to act on their commitments and after the separation of genuine votes from the fake votes accept the final result.

UN stated that the auditing process transparently continues and more than 100 international observers are busy with auditing the votes.

Meanwhile, The Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan and head of UNAMA, Ján Kubiš, congratulated the Afghan people on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of Afghanistan’s independence.

“It is a real pleasure and honour for me to congratulate the Afghan people on the country’s Independence Day,” said Mr. Kubiš. “Your country has been an important member of the United Nations family and the UN is committed, today and in the years to come, to supporting the development of a peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan.”

Currently, the national and international observers are busy with auditing the electoral votes, but it should be seen how much the process will be satisfactorily for the Afghan people.

Explosion at Samangan’s madrasa leaves 15 dead

Imdadullah Mahajer, head of the cultural information department in Samangan province, says that an explosion occurred on Wednesday at a religious school called Al-Jihadi in the vicinity of Aibak city, the center of Samangan province.

Mahajer said that students wer praying at the time of the explosion.

According to him, 15 students were killed and a number of others were wounded. However, the exact number of wounded has not been confirmed.

Mahajer says that the dead and wounded were all students at the school and no government officials were present.

The ministry of interior has also confirmed the blast.

“Blast hits religious seminary in Samangan capital Aybak, killing 10 students and wounding several others,” Interior Ministry’s spokesman Abdul Nafi Takor said.

However, reports on social media indicate that the casualty toll was much higher.

So far no group claimed responsibility for the blast.

Quadruplets born to Laghman couple

A Laghman woman has given birth to four healthy babies at the Laghman Central Hospital, officials confirmed Saturday.

According to Dr Payandeh Mohammad Sahak, the mother and her four babies – three boys and a girl – are all doing well.

The quadruplets were born on Friday.

The father of the babies was quoted by Bakhtar news agency as saying he is happy that “God has given him four children.”

The couple live in Alingar district of Laghman.

Takhar police confirm explosion but no casualties reported

Takhar police said an explosion shook Talaqan city court area on Tuesday morning but that no casualties were reported.

Police did not provide further details but eyewitnesses said the explosion was caused by a landmine and that it happened when prisoners were being transported to the courthouse.

According to witnesses, a Police Ranger and another car were damaged in this explosion.

Meanwhile, Hamidullah Mutawakel, the spokesperson of Herat governor, said in a statement that five Daesh members were killed in an operation by IEA forces in PD12 of Herat city. According to the Herat governor’s spokesman, the operation was carried out on Tuesday night by the intelligence forces.

Mutawakel did not give further details or say whether there had been any casualties among IEA forces.
